The Qatar 2022 World Cup was a great tournament for Africa, Asia, and everyone else who participated. Benyi and I looked into the performances, lessons that should be taken from the game, who was considered the flop, and the best African player of the tournament. We also discussed the "France is the African team" issue & treatment of Immigrants from Africa. We gave a shout-out to our Canadian neighbors for their embrace of diversity which in my opinion is a much better job than the United States Federation.
We recorded this episode just before the end of the year 2022 via the melon app check it out https://melonapp.com?ref=whitelabelamerican

What a year 2022 was, we have had the good, the bad, and the fantastic. To wrap up the year 2022 and officially come out of hibernation, I decided to have some of my New York/East Coast podcasters and friends join me to wrap up the year. We talked about Politics, Books, Music, Cultural Moments, Movies/Shows and everything in between that went down in 2022 from our perspective. It's a relaxed and informal atmosphere, with a bunch of like-minded folks just hanging out and having fun. You're invited to join in on the fun and hear what we had to say.
If you're new to the podcast or a returning listener, you can also support us on Patreon for as little as $3 per month. You'll get access to loads of bonus content, and you can help us out by sharing our podcast with your friends and on your socials, and giving us a five-star review on your favorite podcast platform. We really appreciate it!

Yes, yours truly is this week's guest. Not only is Ashwin Gopi back in the studio, he also took over hosting duties in order for me to appear as the guest. It was fun to be the guest and I'll be a guest again when I live-stream the 3rd year anniversary episode this Saturday.
This conversation was the official beginning of the 3rd year anniversary celebration. I was expecting Ashwin to hit me with neighborhood questions only, however, Ashwin said nah, and hit me with more amazing questions.
Right from the beginning, I got to talk about what success looks like to me in the podcasting space. Embracing applying for grants, censorship, regulations & propaganda. It got deep and at the same time, we were still our usual satirical selves. Now if the question about restaurants had come before the pandemic, my answer would have been straightforward.
If you have a different take on my answers or would like to bring my attention to some podcasting regulations that I may have missed. Feel free to https://www.whitelabelamerican.com/contact/
Shout-out to Benyi who is about to launch his own podcast for being in the audience and shout-out to all of you who have supported me along the way.

Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo is an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts in NYC teaching Post-Colonial African History, and a columnist at the Peoples Gazette. Rudolf has authored multiple books that include "This American Life Sef", "Children of a Retired God" & "Chimamanda" amongst many others. Rudolf is also the host of Dr. Damages, a political satirical show covering the African political space and holding officials accountable (most in Nigeria). Yes, Rudolf Ogoo Okonkwo = Dr. Damages.

Rudolf shares powerful stories about the Igbo culture that he is from, beginning with his name. Why his father may have decided to name Rudolf gets tackled, to sacred animals and why they have become scarce or possibly extinct in his hometown. The main thing for me was reincarnation, I had heard of it being talked about in an unserious manner across different ethnic groups but never before had I been face to face with someone who is incarnate of their grandfather. That experience of having to go through a funeral for the burial of the person for whom you are supposed to be his/her reincarnation. It's like attending your own funeral.

Rudolf breaks down the birth of his pen name Dr. Damages, how many tables he shook, escaping from IBB (former military dictator of Nigeria), arriving in the United States, and meeting and marrying his wife. Did you know that Rudolf was in a band? This is one episode that you don't want to miss out on and will definitely have a Part II sometime next year.

Supply chain tech and VC specialist Brian Laung Aoaeh, CFA returns for his long-awaited sequel to the laugh-filled first episode. So although we did get serious a few times while discussing the pandemic, laughter was never far behind as it is and will always be a part of our stories.

First, we began with confirmation that I was not late to this recording unlike our first recording when all my ancestors, ex-girlfriends, and village people combined to make me late at a record time to my own recording. Such has never repeated itself again, still baffles me to this day.

Brian touched on how he and his co-founder Lisa, became a team with their shared interest in the supply chain. Brian would give us more insight into how they were willing to put the supply chain community that they had built to work and save as many lives as possible earlier in the pandemic to no avail.

We dived into the West African and by extension African space when it comes to embracing the supply chain (none of us can survive without it). How just by doing the basics of upgrading our infrastructure would be more than beneficial to the host countries, it would be great for neighboring ones too as the supply chain is an economic multiplier if you just get the basics right.
Brian also shared how his journey into fatherhood has been going, his culinary tastes haven't reduced, nor has his taste in music. There's a lot more to Brian and I highly recommend that you check out Brian's first appearance on White Label American (Titled "What is Death"). I hope to have him back again as we have so much to talk about.
Make sure to check out Brian's article on Freightwave from 2020 on modernizing Africa's logistics capacity (link below).

We haven't had guests born in the United States but living in a different country for some time now, who better than two unique and inspiring women that I have been a fan of right from Oct 2020 when I first heard about some of their work on my favorite podcast The Black Guy Who Tips (link below). Since that fateful day in October, I began following Angela Fobbs and Adrianne George the Co-hosts of the Black Women in Europe podcast.
The Black Women in Europe podcast was born from the multi-award-winning blog of the same title that has been in the running for fifteen years. Be you a Black immigrant or an indigenous (especially woman) in Europe, the Black Women in Europe blog has great resources and connections for your network. The second season of the podcast kicks off right after this episode drops. Link below!
Before blogging and podcasting, Angela and Adrianne both began life in different parts of America. One in a boring town, the other in an exciting place. Each woman's dream as a teenager also pointed to a different path but the universe always courses correct and thus began their adventure overseas. This conversation has unisex names, gangs, and colors, beautiful love stories, laughs, and so much was learned. Most importantly, get out and vote, we cannot afford to let the Fascists win. Climate change can be solved if we vote for the right people, so Vote in November!

Zou Diallo is a digital media creator based in Brooklyn NY. You wouldn't be able to tell that this gentleman did not speak a word of English when he arrived in America. Zou's story is a beautiful American story and shows how the struggle of many immigrants is real. Zou's arrival in NYC is one of the most legendary “Welcome To New York” stories that we have had on the podcast, mine.  know that mine.
However, before he came to the United States, Zou lived in one of the most beautiful and historic places on earth. Zou shares his experiences in Bamako, at school, childhood, and similarities between Malian and Nigerian cultures. We talked a bit about our school day.
Zou is also the man to talk to if you are interested in learning about the restaurant industry. Zou is the person who introduced me to Afro-Trap music (that tune is good) and he also put his skills to work by making my first TikTok video for me right after we recorded. We still need to get him on the pounded yam by the way.
Zou is big in the content-creating spaces, especially when it comes to visuals, this man would make you hungry if you stare at his food presentations on Instagram. You should check out both channels in the links below:

CEO of Worthy Retail U Steve Worthy, at one point in life, did not see the need in accepting the call to lead until one fateful day early in his Air Force days. Leadership always found him despite his attempts at avoiding it. This episode is not limited to only discussing leadership and developing that skill set.
Steve is a retail leader, and executive coach, who shares with us memorable moments from his childhood into the present and how they have inspired him to create multiple podcasts. Oh, talking about podcasting, Steve is not only one of the most experienced in this space as he has been podcasting since 2007, he also has one of the best voices in the industry. Steve also loves to live stream his broadcast and I can't recommend him enough to anyone looking to get into podcasting. Steve is one of my biggest inspirations as I have learned much from him.

Alvaro A. Ayo was born in what used to be known as East Germany, a country that's no longer in existence due to the unification of East and West Germany. It is always an experience meeting and hearing from someone with ties to a country that officially isn't in existence anymore. I hope to get more guests from other countries and even East Germany to share their stories as there is plenty for us to learn about.
Alvaro's story only began in East Germany, for the most part, Bolivia shaped him and that's where we spend the vast majority of his episode. Then he arrives in the United States and another chapter begins. Interestingly, Alvaro might be one of the guests whose last name can be found Ayo can be found on all the continents of the planet. It was amazing to see how many meanings in different languages the name Ayo had, and I am pretty sure that we have only scratched the surface.
Way before Facebook groups became infamous as meeting places for extremists, and all manner of toxicity. Alvaro and I would meet in one founded by an amazing man who is no longer with us today. Thus began our friendship which has lasted well over a decade. This story begins in a country that no longer exists to one that's way up there, the amount of different geographical terrains and climates in this episode is just pure fun.
